Created by Merwin Gerard and produced by Collier Young, One Step Beyond was hosted by John Newland, "your guide to the supernatural" (also credited as "Our guide into the world of the unknown").

Newland, who also directed every episode, presented tales that explored paranormal events and various situations that defied "logical" explanation.

Unlike other anthology programs, the ABC network series episodes were presented in the form of straightforward thirty-minute docudramas, all said to be based on true events.

Initially, the program included the corporate name of sponsor Alcoa as part of its full title.(Wiki) This episode titled "The Aerialist" aired April 28, 1959.

A father-son team of circus aerialists, Gino and Mario Patruzzio (Robert Carricart, Mike Conners), quarrel bitterly over Mario's slatternly young wife Carlotta (Yvette Vickers) just before beginning their act.

An accident occurs in mid-air, causing Gino to plunge helplessly to the ground.

Though exonerated of any blame, Gino still feels responsible for the tragedy and becomes dangerously suicidal.

Can Gino save his son from destroying himself--even though the elder Patruzzio lies paralyzed in a hospital bed? (artistdirect) WELCOME to Bobs Time Travel TV.
